A few people have said to me why compete when you know you wonโ€™t win the show? Take time off and come back when you have a chance of winning….

For me this is ridiculous, there can always only be one winner and its always subjective to who the judge likes best on the day

Competing is different for everyone and people compete for all kinds of reasons, ITโ€™S NOT ALL ABOUT THE WINNING!

Donโ€™t get me wrong I would love to win and obviously I work my hardest to do the best I can. Competing is hard for me because I have always been a high achiever, at school I was a full on geek and got the one of the best GCSE results in the country, I was always pretty academic and got a 2:1 in my degree, I aced my personal trainer qualification, so to work my hardest and not be the best at something is very different to me

BUT I work my little butt off and I donโ€™t want to wait until i am โ€œperfectโ€ to compete. For me makinf small improvements each time is more than enough for me and I know with each season I will get better and better. I am in the best hands with @coachedbymb and @teamarmada_official and I already know I have beaten last years package!

Competing makes me happy! I do not see the top level competitors as a threat, I donโ€™t let them make me feel not enough, I never compare, I just see them as totally and utterly inspirational and use them as motivation to push hardee because one day that will be me!!

So I have the choice to quit and give up and wait until I am โ€œperfectโ€ or I have the chance to grind on and better myself each and every day ๐Ÿ™‚

I am here to awaken MY potential and to keep growing!

๐ŸฆŠ Super quick and easy tofu scramble ๐ŸฆŠ

Makes 2 portions ๐Ÿ˜˜

1๏ธโƒฃ Whisk a box of @clearspringuk silken tofu with a fork

2๏ธโƒฃ Add all the herbs, I used paprika, turmeric (makes it nice and yellow), dill, basil, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper

3๏ธโƒฃ Melt a teaspoon of @coconutmerchant coconut oil in a pan

4๏ธโƒฃFry for 10 mins over medium heat

5๏ธโƒฃYou could also add in mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers and spinach to make it extra yummy

Team Training โ€“ Team Armada

If you know me, you will know that I like to reflect a LOT and I love to keep a diary of my feelings (mostly documented on Instagram on a daily basis haha).

With new people joining the group ( a big HELLO and welcome to you all), I thought it would be cool to share my experiences of Team Training and to help to put you at ease if you are feeling a bit nervous (totally normal!) about attending your first one!

We have all been in the same boat of it being our first time and I know it can be daunting but you will have the BEST time!

There are so many benefits from coming to Team Training:

1. Meeting your coach in person:
Whilst it is absolutely awesome to be able to check in with photos each week and send them to a coach, they do not always paint the whole picture, for example the lighting of the photos and the angle which the camera is set up might make you look slightly different than in real life, and letโ€™s face it sometimes we have those weeks where we take like 20 photos and choose the best ones to send to coach haha! Nothing beats Michelle and Jennie seeing you in person so that they can advise you on the best plan moving forward! And itโ€™s normally the case that we look better in person too!


2. Posing Practice:

Team Training is a great opportunity to learn the poses for your federation, whether you are a beginner just getting to grips with posing for the first time or if you have competed before, team training gives us a great chance to make tweaks to our poses to ensure we look our best on show day!

3. Making friends:

I can 100 percent ensure you that everyone is friendly and approachable, we all have the same interest and passion for fitness and are all working towards similar goals! It is great to be able to make friends from all over the country, we like to chat about upcoming competitions, hair and makeup and different recipes we have all been trying out! I love team training for the social aspect and have met some of my best friends because of it!

It also means you will know people when you are back stage waiting to compete!

Top Tips
โ€ข If it is your first time, message someone from the group and see if you can meet them for a coffee before the start time and arrive together, this will calm your nerves!
โ€ข Wear a bikini or underwear if you feel comfortable as this will help you with the posing practice but if not it is fine to wear sportswear just so you can experience what we do!
โ€ข Focus on your end goal and see team training as an amazing opportunity for you to make friends and improve your stage presence and to learn more about competing.
โ€ข Never compare yourself to anyone else or worry that you will stand out, every single person is at a different stage of their journey, whether you are a beginner, in off season or just about to compete, we are all there to support one another and we all get scared no matter what stage we are at!

APRIL 2018

April was my first ever team training day! On the train ride down I had a mixture of emotions from being excited to nervous, praying I wouldnโ€™t stand out compared to everyone else, terrified I wouldnโ€™t be able to do the poses and worried Michelle would take one look at me and say I had no chance of competing until 2069!

On arrival, I told myself to channel my inner Beyonce and act confident! I arrived early and a few of the girls were already there too. We got chatting and it dawned on me how much experience all of the girls had compared to me, I started to get more and more nervous and questioned why I had even come!

We went into the studio and I stripped down to my bikini, we went through lots of different styles of posing and I felt a bit overwhelmed but as the session went on I was enjoying getting to learn what suited my body best and what I would be expected to do on stage!

At the end I felt proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and it was amazing to meet Michelle and the girls in person!

I went away with lots of poses to practice and I practiced A LOT before the next team training! It was great that I had met people with the same interests as me as competing can be a lonely place and I was able to speak to them on social media every day ๏Š

MAY 2018

This time around I felt slightly more confident as I knew what to expect! I enjoyed getting to meet even more of the team and this session gave me a chance to practice all the poses I had been trying at home!

I still had self doubts if I would be ready in time for my show and was comparing myself to other people but team training was the best place to be, all of the girls built up my confidence and we had such a fun day, I couldnโ€™t wait until the next one!

JULY 2018

This was the last team training before my first show! If you are close to show then Team Training is the best opportunity to fine tune your routine, gain some confidence, show your coach your package and to wiggle out any niggles.

I love Team Training because we have the chance to ask any questions to our coach in person and you leave feeling so motivated and confident in your abilities!

JANUARY 2019

Now January was a whole new experience, by now I had already competed and was coming to the end of my first off season! Roll on the emotions again of feeling unconfident and like I will stand out like a sore thumb in the room!

One of the best bits about January team training was the drive down, as I have now made such close friends with some of the members of the team we were able to travel together and have a Team Armada road trip! This included lot of giggles and conversations about competing which you may find hard to have with your non competing friends! It is so nice to be able to chat freely about your passions!

Of course, January team training was amazing and once I was there I found my confidence! Posing practice is just as important in off season as it is in prep and the beauty of coming to January team training meant my coach and I could create a plan for my next competition!

FEBRUARY 2019

February team training had such an amazing atmosphere with a handful of girls about to compete in the first competition of the season! Whilst I was only a few weeks into prep, seeing all my beautiful team mates looking so good gave me such an amazing motivational boost, I literally got home and could not wait to get to the gym!
I love how we spend time on our poses and then time discussing upcoming shows and I even got some new recipe ideas to try but the best bit of all was catching up with my new friends and supporting the girls just about to compete!
