How to keep your sparkle over Christmas

How to keep your sparkle over Christmas

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” For a lot of us, we look forward to Christmas all year but for others it can exacerbate feelings of stress, anxiety and loneliness.

Please reach out to friends and neighbours over the holiday period and check that they are feeling ok. Here are my top tips for keeping your sparkle over Christmas:

When you smile you send signals to your brain and it helps you to relax! Smiling releases endorphins and it can change your whole mood for the day. Put on your fave comedy, invite some friends over and have a giggle.

2. Get baking some yummy vegan goodies

There is nothing better than having a house that smells of Christmas. My favourites are mulled wine and gingerbread men!

3. Don’t overspend

Do not get stressed about spending money you do not have. The best gifts are often thoughtful and even homemade. You could invite your friends round for a nice home cooked dinner in the New Year or arrange to do something fun; this will help to spread the cost! Your time and company is always worth more than a gift!

4. Take the load off

Do not feel pressured to attend every social event; this can make you feel stressed! If you are in charge of cooking Christmas dinner, delegate some tasks to other people and do not take it all on yourself.

5. Make goals for the New Year

There is no better time to reflect on the year and consider what you may like to achieve in the New Year!

6. Do what you love and have some me time

There are no rules at Christmas! Plan your day to do what you love: whether that’s playing party games, enjoying your fave drink, a long wintery walk, online shopping in the sales or even getting in a sneaky workout! Christmas is all about having fun!

7. Get into the season

Do not wait for the season to get into you! Once you put your Christmas music on and cover your house with decorations, it is impossible to not get into the Christmas spirit.

8. Reach out to friends

If you are feeling lonely at this time, try not to dwell on it! Reach out to your friends and family, invite them round and try to spend time with people as much as you can.

If you need someone to speak to, you can always call the Samaritans on 0800 116123

9. Consider Volunteering

One of my favourite Christmases was spent volunteering at a homeless shelter! It was so rewarding to give back to my local community. You can find more information

10. Be grateful

Write a list of all the things you are grateful for this year; think of all the positive things in your life ❤

11. Treat yourself

It’s Christmas, there is no better time to buy yourself the gift you have been wanting all year! The sales even start early now, many starting on Christmas Eve.

12. Enjoy the break

It won’t be long until it is all over and we are back to normality! Enjoy the break as much as you can and take time to unwind and have some me time/family time.

13. Don’t feel guilty

If you are into health and fitness, it is easy sometimes to feel guilty about having a few treats or missing a few workouts. This can all be fixed. Christmas only comes around once a year so make the best memories!

Have a great Christmas everyone 🥰

  1. Superb blog you have here but I was curious if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics discussed in this
article? I’d really love to be a part of online community
where I can get opinions from other experienced individuals that share the same interest.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Cheers!
