I had the delight of spending the afternoon with the bestie at the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham for afternoon tea.
I emailed the hotel just before Christmas to check they could provide a Vegan option and they replied quickly and assured me it was no problem.
I went ahead and booked as a Christmas treat for the bestie and the hotel were fab when I needed to rearrange the date.
On arrival the hotel is beautiful and feels very luxurious! The 1565 restaurant is on the fourth floor and is very modern! Just to note I have been to the top floor roofbar and that is equally as gorgeous!
We were seen to very quickly and were shown to our table. Our waiter was called Kamil and he made my afternoon. He was friendly and polite and made great conversation. He recommended the Mojitio tea which is a blend of peppermint, spearmint and lemongrass and I think it is the best tea I have ever had! Tea and coffee are bottomless, so we both got through two pots of mojitio tea each and then a red berry pot too!
They had a huge range of black, green and herbal teas!
Kamil then informed me they had soya milk and rice milk so I went for a soya gingerbread latte 🙂
Now the bit you are all waiting for…. the food!
On the top layer we had some finger sandwiches which comprised of roasted pepper and hummus, mushroom and pea puree and tomato and red onion. They were great! Although the mushroom one was quite tricky to eat!
We had some onion melba toast topped with garlicy dip and beetroot! This was amazing!!!!
Middle layer was a little cake made from figs topped with raspberry coulis and edible flowers 🙂 so so so so so good! I want more!
A little pot of honeycomb with a weird kind of pear and passionfruit sauce! Creative but not amazing haha!
And an orange macaron which was kinda special because its been a long time since we had macarons!
On the bottom layer we had 2 scones each with little pots of jam! They are definitily the best vegan scones I have had! Although I was lucky mine split in two easily wheras Lauren’s did crumble quite a lot which made it hard to eat! Only thing that could have been improved is maybe try to make some vegan cream to go with the scones!
Overall this is probably the best vegan afternoon tea I have ever had! I loved the sandwich choices, they were creative and interesing! Loved the melba toast!
The fig cake was one of the best vegan cakes I ever had! I really want a giant one! And to have a macaron was such a treat! Fair play to the chef for being able to create vegan scones and thank you so much for giving us such variety! You are very talented!
The price normally starts from £24.00 a head but I did manage to use a Group On voucher to get some money off! One million percent worth the money and compared to the afternoon tea I had elsewhere last week it was a million times better! At least there was cake haha!
Great afternoon and the service provided by Kamil made it even better! He deserves a pay rise along with the chef!
I hope more Vegans come and check this place out!
