Vegan chocolate cake

Just thought I would share with you some non healthy recipes I made today for the OH birthday

Choc Cake

I topped with oreos as my presentation is poor

Nearly forgot to add sugar haha, I must be too used to making healthy treats!

So good and even more amazing heated up! I bet it would go nicely with ice cream mmm.

Tastes like a proper choc fudge cake!

For the coffee I used @crumpetsandcoffee Rich chocolate flavour ๐Ÿ™‚

5/5 I would recommend, I will make again for special occasions but way too naughty for me haha

Oreo Brownies

I love made by luci’s instagram @lucirebecca so I was thrilled to find this recipe on her website! Compared to the cake not as good and there was meant to be an oreo layer in the middle, however they all rose to the top haha!

3/5 not sure I would make again.

Hotel Chocolat – Teolat Spiced Teabag Review

By now you must all know I am obsessed with TEA ๐Ÿ˜นโ˜•๏ธ

You really cannot beat a decent brew!

Recently I also became obsessed with Chai! I’m not afraid to admit I never really knew what chai flavours were and they sounded a bit too hippy like for me! Until I tried a chai latte and realised I have been missing out all my life ๐Ÿ™ˆ

So yesterday when I found these teabags in Hotel Chocolat I had to try!

Spiced Teabags – Cacao, Chai & Chilli

A warming infusion of smokey-sweet Vietnamese cinnamon, whole cloves, crushed chillies and roasted cacao shells. The perfect spiced teabag blend.

As soon as you take the packaging out of the bag, the gorgeous smell hits you. You can see little flakes of cacao and chilli and you just know you are in for a treat!

I left mine to brew for around 6 minutes and it was perfect, everything you would expect from a chai tea. A very strong, warm deep cinnamon/dark choc flavour that leaves you very satisfied! Just a word of warning they are quite spicy, so if that’s not your thing, buy with caution!

I love how strong the flavour is because sometimes you buy tea and the flavour is just too weak, you know when the tea smells amazing but just tastes of nothing! These bags taste as great as they smell!

Online one can buy 10 bags for ยฃ5.00 and in store they sell single bags for 75p!

Compared to other teabags I guess this may seem a bit pricy but when you work out that’s 50p a drink and they are a luxurious product, it really doesn’t seem too bad!

Where to Buy

If you like chai flavours, I would 100 percent recommend! I even think these would make a cute present! As said above they are quite spicy!

100% biodegradable bag! And of course vegan friendly ๐Ÿ™‚

Park Regis Birmingham Vegan Afternoon Tea

I had the delight of spending the afternoon with the bestie at the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham for afternoon tea.

I emailed the hotel just before Christmas to check they could provide a Vegan option and they replied quickly and assured me it was no problem.

I went ahead and booked as a Christmas treat for the bestie and the hotel were fab when I needed to rearrange the date.

On arrival the hotel is beautiful and feels very luxurious! The 1565 restaurant is on the fourth floor and is very modern! Just to note I have been to the top floor roofbar and that is equally as gorgeous!

We were seen to very quickly and were shown to our table. Our waiter was called Kamil and he made my afternoon. He was friendly and polite and made great conversation. He recommended the Mojitio tea which is a blend of peppermint, spearmint and lemongrass and I think it is the best tea I have ever had! Tea and coffee are bottomless, so we both got through two pots of mojitio tea each and then a red berry pot too!

They had a huge range of black, green and herbal teas!

Kamil then informed me they had soya milk and rice milk so I went for a soya gingerbread latte ๐Ÿ™‚

Now the bit you are all waiting for…. the food!

On the top layer we had some finger sandwiches which comprised of roasted pepper and hummus, mushroom and pea puree and tomato and red onion. They were great! Although the mushroom one was quite tricky to eat!

We had some onion melba toast topped with garlicy dip and beetroot! This was amazing!!!!

Middle layer was a little cake made from figs topped with raspberry coulis and edible flowers ๐Ÿ™‚ so so so so so good! I want more!

A little pot of honeycomb with a weird kind of pear and passionfruit sauce! Creative but not amazing haha!

And an orange macaron which was kinda special because its been a long time since we had macarons!

On the bottom layer we had 2 scones each with little pots of jam! They are definitily the best vegan scones I have had! Although I was lucky mine split in two easily wheras Lauren’s did crumble quite a lot which made it hard to eat! Only thing that could have been improved is maybe try to make some vegan cream to go with the scones!

Overall this is probably the best vegan afternoon tea I have ever had! I loved the sandwich choices, they were creative and interesing! Loved the melba toast!

The fig cake was one of the best vegan cakes I ever had! I really want a giant one! And to have a macaron was such a treat! Fair play to the chef for being able to create vegan scones and thank you so much for giving us such variety! You are very talented!

The price normally starts from ยฃ24.00 a head but I did manage to use a Group On voucher to get some money off! One million percent worth the money and compared to the afternoon tea I had elsewhere last week it was a million times better! At least there was cake haha!

Great afternoon and the service provided by Kamil made it even better! He deserves a pay rise along with the chef!

I hope more Vegans come and check this place out!

Review Plamil So Free Cool Mint Dark Chocolate

Thankyou to my Boo @laurenlsj for gifting me this chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought this review was going to turn out very different…. what can I say…. it wasn’t love at first bite! I am not sure what I was expecting but it was a lot mintier than I thought!

I honestly believed the result of this review would be negative but I went back for more a bit later (come on, let me off it is chocolate haha) and my opinion was flip reversed…. I actually LOVED it!

The chocolate is sugar free but it doesn’t taste overly sweet as some sugar free products do and it didn’t leave a nasty chemically after taste like some other products do.

It tasted light and fresh and more milky than dark chocolate which I know a lot of Vegans search for!

Really silky smooth! The bar is very thin so the feel is light and fresh, especially with the mint flavouring.

ยฃ2.65 for 100g .Hmmmmm I don’t want to sound like a tight ass but I don’t believe it is worth this much, although I guess if you need to eat sugar free it is probably worth the money.

Where to Buy

Holland and Barrett

If you miss milky mint chocolate then its worth a go! I would buy it again for sure if I saw it for under ยฃ2.00!

I actually wish I could eat some right now so I must of liked it!

Other comments

The sweetner used is xylitol so if you are doing a low fodmap diet thats one to watch!

Plamil have Vegan easter eggs out now and I have my eyes on them haha! Also the banana and strawberry chocolate ends look good value on the Plamil website!

Overal 3.5/5

My Protein Vegan Banana Cinnamon Protein Review

I have finally found a Vegan Protein shake I love in Revolution Foods Raw Sport Range so I won’t be changing anytime soon!

Samples are available:

However I did find a random sample of My Protein Vegan Blend in the cupboard!

It happened to be Banana Cinnamom flavour and I couldn’t resist trying!

To be honest its doesn’t really have a banana or cinnamon taste! More like vanilla I would say. It’s not a bad tasting protein but not what it says on the tin!

It blends so so so so much better than the Vegan Blend chocolate smooth flavour! Although it tastes like traditional vegan protein powder it doesn’t have the sandy texture like the choc flavour!

ยฃ14.99 for 1kg! Cheap and cheerful!

Where to buy:

If you are looking for a cheap Vegan protein it is an average product. Taste is ok and texture is way better than the chocolate flavour however for a similar price I would recommend Scitec Choc praline vegan shake or if you want a quality product that actually tastes like banana… go for Rev Foods Raw Sport!

I personally won’t buy again but it’s worth a try of a sample to see if you like it

Overall 3/5

Diet Hack – Zoats

#shutthefrontdoor ๐Ÿšช

๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€ Seriously, how have I never tried #Zoats before?! ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ’

Just add half a courgette to your normal amount of oats, add slightly less water than normal and cook as normal! On the hove or in the microwave! Then add your desired toppings๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸฆŠ

Great way to add volume and bulk out your oats if you are dieting and to get extra greens in too!

A lot of people will tell you, you can’t taste the courgette. I won’t lie to you peeps, you can taste it, it alters the texture the teeniest amount but its such a small change and it’s totaly worth it! It’s so quick and easy too!

Always start my day with @crumpetscoffee , a lot of you have asked my opinion on these coffees lately! They are vegan friendly and diet friendly! We all have diff tastebuds but my faves are Choc Hazlenut, Toffee, Rich Chocolate and Vanilla. Why not try a sample pack? Message me if you would like a discount code ๐ŸŒ

St Andrews Town Hotel – Droitwich Spa. Vegan Afternoon Tea Review

Myself and the other half visited St Andrews Town Hotel in Droitwich Spa for afternoon tea yesterday.

From the initial booking the customer service was great. I enquired firstly if St Andrews would be able to provide a Vegan Afternoon Tea and I had a prompt email response that this would be no problem.

I was dealt with professionally and booking was easy peasy ๐Ÿ™‚ all done via email!

I have been to St Andrews before and the building is beautiful, lots of people choose to get married here ๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐Ÿผ

The bottom layer of my afternoon tea comprised of Vegan finger sandwiches.

There were 2 kinds: brown bread filled with grilled courgette and sundried tomato (absolutley to die for! AMAZING!!!) and the others were pea puree and tomato puree on white bread (nice but not as nice as the others!) The sandwiches were accompanied with vegetable crisps and some salad!

The middle layer comprised of a mini espresso cup filled with pea soup! I loved this! So cute!

Along with celery sticks, sundried tomato, radish and some pea puree and pickle to use as dipping sauces.

The top layer was jelly and fruit topped with two scoops of sorbet (one raspberry and I think perhaps the other was lemon but hard to tell!) The jelly was absolutely FANTASTIC, I’m sure it may have had prosecco in, it kind of had a fizzy tang to it and went perfectly with the fresh fruit!

We had the option of tea or coffee and if you know me by now, you know I went for the peppermint tea option!

St Andrews is beautiful and pretty inside and we were lucky to have our afternoon tea in the garden room with views of the garden, just a shame it was raining!

We chose to have our tea quite late so we were the only ones here so was a bit quiet but lovely all the same!

From the lady on the reception desk to the lady who served us, I could not of asked for better service. They were really friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. We were served quickly (albeit we were the only ones here haha).

Service with a smile!

ยฃ14.95 per person or ยฃ19.95 per person if you would prefer a bubbly afternoon tea! Look out for deals on Group On too!

I think the price is very reasonable ๐Ÿ™‚

I would recommend St Andrews for Vegan afternoon tea if you are in the area but I wouldn’t travel out of my way for it.

I was pleasantly surprised with my Vegan option and it’s lucky I am on a diet because I didn’t leave with the Oh my God I might die of a sugar coma feeling you normally have after eating too much cake haha but having said that I was disappointed there was no vegan cake for me to try ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

The sandwiches and jelly were really special however, thankyou to the chef ๐Ÿ™‚ and for the price you cannot go wrong.

If you are willing to spend a little more I would recommend the Chateau Impney too for a Vegan Afternoon Tea!

Other comments

My other half had a traditional afternoon tea with a latte, scones and jam/cream and cakes! He absolutely loved it and would defo go back!

I would definitely return, the food was great and service exceptional, only disappointment was no cake/scones 4/5

Alpro Caffee Review

If you know me, you know I cannot resist trying new Vegan products so I was thrilled when Alpro announced two new coffee milks!

Because you know, coffee is BAE โ™ฅ๏ธโ˜•๏ธ

So far I have only tried the soya caramel version and here is my opinion:

I have tried this product in a variety of ways!

On its own! Tastes amazing – literally like caramel coffee flavoured milk! Not too thick or thin! The caramel flavour really comes through and the coffee isn’t too overpowering!

Mixed with coffee! I realise I have mixed it with flavoured coffee but it matches really well with these flavours! Crumpets and coffee choc hazlenut and this milk is the ๐Ÿ’ฃ i bet the hazlenut version would be off the scale!

Mixed with ice and Revolution Foods Plant based protein! Tastes like a toffee caramel frappe! Perfect for post workout!

At the moment this beauty is ยฃ2.00 on offer. I personally wouldn’t pay any more than ยฃ2.00 ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿผ

Where to buy?

I believe Sainsburys is the only stockist at the moment

If you like Alpro plant milks already and you are into sweet coffee, it is defo worth a go if you can get it for ยฃ2.00.

All reviews I have read are positive! However I seem to be with the consensus on that Califia Farms (also available in Sainsburys) is better!

Overall: 4/5 it’s not something I would rush to buy again but I would love to try the hazlenut version and overall it was a tasty treat!

As always I am thrilled to see more Plant Based Products โ™ฅ๏ธ

The Chemistry Cafe Stourbridge Review

We found this quirky cafe right in the middle of Stourbridge town today!

From the minute you walk in you realise its a funky place and a little bit different.

It’s spacious with lots of tables and decorated in a modern way but with a homely feel!

The atmosphere was great and had an awesome vibe!

In terms of food and drink, they had a whole lunch menu for Vegans including wraps and sandwichs!

I opted for a peppermint tea and a slice of Vegan Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake and my bestie had the same cake with a soya americano! ( almond milk also available!)

Price wise I paid around ยฃ5.50 for mine and the cake was lush! I loved how my peppermint tea came with a little sand timer so I knew when it was ready ๐Ÿ˜ป

ervice wise the lady who served us was upbeat and friendly and service was quick with a smile!

I would defo recommend and will be back to try more vegan delights! The hot hot hot chilli chocolate caught my eye!

Only thing that could be better would be sugar free syrups for coffee

Thanks for a great time ๐Ÿ™‚
