Travel Tuesday – The Stones Hotel Bali Review

Hi Guys,

Lots of you have been reading my recent blogs, mostly Vegan product reviews and my favourite things from the week, Thank you so much 😺 IMG_1839.JPG

One of my friends came up with the brilliant idea, that I should write some reviews of the fantastic places I have travelled too. I agreed this was a fabulous idea as I love to write and I love to travel so hopefully this will give you some hints and tips of some great places to explore 🌏

I thought I would start with one of our most recent trips to Bali. Although I would love to give you a minute by minute run down of our adventures, I feel that might turn into a novel rather than a blog post! 📖

Therefore, I have chosen to seperatly review the hotel and I will come back to our excursions in another post, feel free to message me if you would like any information 💌

We booked a 2 week stay in the 5 star, The Stones Hotel – Legian, Bali @thestoneshotelbali. We chose this area as a base because we wanted to stay in a lively area with lots to do, with the option of taking trips elsewhere.

Arrival:

On arrival, after travelling for over 24 hours, check in was easy and stress free. On first impressions, I was completely blown away by how the hotel looked, the main foyer is stunning and I was super happy with our choice! We were given homemade fruit ice lollies, this was a great touch!

The room:

We originally booked a ground floor room with our own private plunge pool but on reflection we had decided this wasn’t what we wanted. We like to relax on our balcony and take lots of pictures and these certain rooms open straight out on to your private pool.

Luckily on arrival, we were offered an upgrade to the top floor with a pool view and a bath tub on the balcony! This was my idea of heaven and I used the bath everyday!

The room itself was spacious, the bed was enormous and super comfy! There was a TV with quite a few channels in english, french, german and russian to name a few.

There was a seperate area for the shower and toilet and we were provided fresh towels and toiletries everyday. The room was kept spotless, and if you ask any of my friends I am the messiest person they know! Thanks cleaners 💖💖💖

Room service could be provided but we did not use this service apart from the time they gave us free beer and sweets delivered to our room 💜💜💜 Bottles of water were replenished daily too.

Food and drink:

Breakfast was included with our deal and I have to say it is one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I have ever been to. Being vegan I sometimes find it hard to find a variety of food especially staying somewhere for 2 weeks but they had soya milk available, plenty of fruit, curries and rice! It was also possible to order a freshly made smoothie and health boosters 💖 For those of you who are not vegan there was lots of cakes, meat dishes, eggs, cheeses, ice creams etc and the options were different daily. I also noticed they had a great gluten free range too.

Make sure to try the yellow watermelon 😻

The only downside to breakfast was the coffee was delivered to you by the staff and sometimes this could take a long time.

We ate at the hotel a few nights during our stay and the food was always excellent. My partner said the steak is one of the best he has ever had and he also loved the lobster. Vegan options were a bit rarer on the evening menu as even the tofu was cooked with fish but I did enjoy the lentils 🙂

Drinks are reasonably priced and they have a wide selection.

Pool:

There is one very large pool with a swim up beach bar. From 3pm they have happy hour where some drinks are BOGOF! During happy jour, a DJ plays music from the top of the bar and the atmosphere is amazing!

Towels are provided and we never had a problem getting a sun lounger. I loved how some of the loungers were actually in the shallow part of the pool so you could dangle your legs in.

Staff regularly came to take any food and drink orders and even offered services like cleaning your sunglasses and spraying your face with refresher. A man in a little dinghy pops round with ice cold beer and fruit kebabs too at various points of the day!

There is also a childs pool and a jacuzzi 💜💜💜

Make sure you try the fresh coconuts they are great!

Location:

The location was great for what we were looking for. We could walk to Kuta Beach in 1 minute and walk along the beach promenade to Kuta in 10-20 minutes! We recommend walking on the beach side if you do not want to be hassled by people to buy things.

There are lots of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars near by. You can walk to Beachwalk the shopping mall in around 10-15 minutes.

We walked to Sky Garden, one of the best nightclubs in Bali in around 30 minutes, this is a great area if you are looking to party.

We covered most of the island during our 2 week stay and trips were easily booked with MBA travel. You are reasonably close to Bali Marine and Safari Park (45 minutes) but other trips we were out and travelling for most of the day.

Entertainment:

During our stay we were out most evenings but when we chose to eat at the restaurant we caught some of the singers. They were really talented and it was a pleasure to listen to them. If you are after standard hotel entertainment like magicians and shows then you may be disappointed.

There was no entertainment during the day.

Staff:

The staff were amazing at The Stones Hotel and they would always go out of their way to help make your stay enjoyable.

The security staff were amazing and made me feel extra safe with all cars being searched on entry and all bags going through scanners each time you returned to the hotel.

Gym:

The best hotel gym I have ever used. Plenty of cardio, resistance machines and free weights. Very spacious and air con! We were always the only ones in there! Towels and water provided and there was even cucumber water!

Hints and tips:

Blue bird taxis are the cheapest for airport transfers.

MBA tours – stands near McDonalds are great for booking tours.

Infamy- the bar at the entrance of the hotel is awesome for watching the sunset whilst relaxing in a jacuzzi on a rooftop bar! The drinks and food are amazing and much cheaper than at the hotel!
