I was so excited to learn that a new Vegan shop had opened in Birmingham, so I had to go and have a look!
‘The Vegan Store’ can be found at 271 Alcester Road South, Kings Heath, Birmingham and is open 10:00 – 17:30 during the week and 11:00 – 15:00 on a Sunday.
You can check out more information here… http://www.theveganstore.co.uk/ or on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/theveganstore
My first impressions of the store were amazing, the store looks really new, modern, clean and quite posh actually! It really stands out and there is a wide range of products from food, sweet treats, fresh and frozen products, even toiletries, house hold goods and pet food! They are all reasonably priced and a lot of things were cheaper than the supermarkets! The customer service was exceptional, I felt really welcome in the shop and I would love to return when I am in the area.
The best thing for me is that literally everything in the shop is Vegan so there is no need to check the ingredients on anything!
So here is my little haul from the Vegan Store. I thought I would mention some of the products and give them each a quick short but sweet review, starting with my favourites!
If you read my blog because I normally post healthy, clean recipes and food, i might disappoint you as most of my haul was Vegan treats haha! All about the balance 🙂
Schlagfix Vegan Squirty Cream
Price: I can’t remember exactly how much but I think it was around £2.50 – £3.00 (4/5)
Comments: Since going Vegan, there isn’t very many things that I actually miss but cream was one of them! This stuff is amazing, tastes fantastic and I would even say better than cream!! Totally worth every penny!! You can find this online if you are not in Birmingham.
Cleo’s Peanut Butter Cups
Price: £1.99 (4/5)
Comments: Best thing ever! Taste better than Reese’s peanut butter cups!! Would defo buy these again for sure. I have had a few vegan peanut butter cups along the way and these are my favourite because the chocolate tastes like real milk chocolate 🙂 Again can be found online.
Biona Sour Snakes
Price: £1.79 (4/5)
Comments: If you miss jelly sweets these are definitely one of the best vegan versions I have tried. Available at Ocado too.
Choc Shot Orange
Price: £ 3.69 (4/5)
Comments: Most people have got round to trying Chocshot by now, its so versatile you can make it into Hot choc or use as a chocolate sauce. I was keen to try the orange flavour, I do like it but I think I prefer the original flavour so I wouldn’t recommend unless you are mad keen on choc orange. The price puts people off this product but I promise you it lasts forever, I use mine everyday and it lasts ages! These are available in Holland and Barrett and most supermarkets now too.
Rebel Kitchen Chocolate Mylk
Price: 89p (5/5)
Comments: Best vegan chocolate milk I have tasted! Such a yummy treat made with coconut milk. Can be found in Tesco, Ocado, Holland and Barrett, Selfridges to name a few! Defo worth a try.
Provamel Soya Dessert Caramel
Price: £1.75 (5/5)
Comments: I prefer these to the Alpro Soya dessert in caramel flavour. They remind me of Creme Caramel desserts! Love the texture and the flavour is yummy just a bit too sweet for me. Handy to keep in the fridge. Can be found in Holland and Barrett too.
Ten Acre Hand Cooked Crisps – Ready Salted
Price: Around 80p (5/5)
Comments: I am not a mad crisp fan but I bought these to try, they were lovely, taste like a posher version of Walkers haha. I was a fool not to try a more exciting flavour such as Cheese and Onion, Hickory BBQ, or chicken soup! They make popcorn too! I would recommend these if you like crisps and you can find them online.
Price: £1.85 (4/5)
Comments: Since turning Vegan this was one of the products that was recommended to me the most as a replacement for chocolate. I have to say I was disappointed, sorry Vego! It wasn’t horrible at all but I wouldn’t be rushing out to buy it again!
Free and Easy Potato and Leek Soup
Price: Around £1.75 (4/5)
Comments: Great to have in the cupboard for a quick and easy meal, love the fact it’s all organic but a bit too salty tasting for me! Would be perfect if you are used to eating a lot of tinned soups though and tastes much better than the Heinz alternative!
Amy’s Lentil Soup
Price: Around £1.99 (4/5)
Comments: Slightly preferred this one to the above, however still tasted a little salty for me. Would buy this one again as its quick and easy. I’ve seen this in Asda too.
